A lot of us can't understand Pokemon. But Pokemon can understand us. They can tell when we're angry, or sad, or happy, or frightened... And in time, they understand our language too. After all, a Pokemon wouldn't be able to battle if they didn't know what we were saying.

That said... that means they can also understand insults, and rudeness. So please think carefully before you talk to or around your Pokemon... especially when naming them...

... Thing seems a little demeaning, but maybe he was struggling with his imagination... And my friends called my friend Twilight 'Egghead', so I think that's a good thing... So, really, your name is the only one that concerns me.

Your trainer was actually thinking of changing your name to 'Sphodromantis viridis'. It means praying mantis, a bug from his world that you resemble.

Oh. I don't like that name at all. What if I were making an incision and I was about to make a mistake? He would have to say "Sphodromantis Viridis, stop" instead of "Dummy, stop". By then it might be too late.

...I'm just...bothered, I suppose, by the fact that I can talk to them, but they have no way of talking to me outside of yes or no answers. I feel like I misunderstand them a lot of the time.

That must be frustrating... but I bet they can tell you're trying your hardest, and that you really do care. Effort means a lot, and I can see that even though you're worried, Gligar likes you a lot.

Do you find that most people here treat their Pokemon well? I'd hope that was the case.

More often than not, I see kind people treating their Pokemon with love.

Well... unfortunately, there's a lot of evil where I come from. And there are also a lot of people who, who can't actually understand that what they're doing is bad, or are too desperate to think of anything else to do.

It's my job to make sure they can't hurt anyone else after they're noticed.

Whenever we had somepony hurting others so deeply, the princesses would deem their punishments, like... sending them to the moon, turning them to stone, or banishing them.

I don't know... Sure, they can be scary, but that's only until you get to know them. My best friend's a dragon.
