H-Hello, everypony... I mean, everyone. I just wanted to say something...

A lot of us can't understand Pokemon. But Pokemon can understand us. They can tell when we're angry, or sad, or happy, or frightened... And in time, they understand our language too. After all, a Pokemon wouldn't be able to battle if they didn't know what we were saying.

That said... that means they can also understand insults, and rudeness. So please think carefully before you talk to or around your Pokemon... especially when naming them...

It's a common word, so many people will understand it. It may make them question your trainer, and almost think badly of them... I know that's what I did. But it's ultimately up to you, and what makes you feel comfortable. It's your name, so it's your choice, and it would be wrong of me to press you either way.

... Thing seems a little demeaning, but maybe he was struggling with his imagination... And my friends called my friend Twilight 'Egghead', so I think that's a good thing... So, really, your name is the only one that concerns me.

Your trainer was actually thinking of changing your name to 'Sphodromantis viridis'. It means praying mantis, a bug from his world that you resemble.

Oh. I don't like that name at all. What if I were making an incision and I was about to make a mistake? He would have to say "Sphodromantis Viridis, stop" instead of "Dummy, stop". By then it might be too late.
